초록한국철학은 이제 근대 학문의 한 분야로서 자리를 잡았지만, 서구와 일제의 침탈을 겪고 그에 대응하는 과정에서 그 성격에 다소 편중되거나 왜곡된 면이 있다. 서세동점 시대에 서구 중심적 관점에 의해 설정된 ‘문명 vs 야만’의 구도에 맞서는 과정에서 지나치게 서구 학문의 관점에 따라 한국철학의 범위와 논제가 제한되었고, 일제 식민사관의 극복이라는 과제 속에서 철학사상의 ‘고유성’에 지나치게 집착해 왔다. 그럼에도 한국철학 분야의 연구는 그 동안 양적으로나 질적으로 많은 발전과 축적을 이루었다. 그 연구 성과들을 기반으로 하여, ‘한국철학사’에 담길 만한 대표적인 ‘한국철학’들의 특성과 철학사적 가치에 주목한다면, 한국철학사의 관점, 즉 철학사의 평가기준을 세울 수 있고, 그 관점은 곧 한국철학의 본질적 특성, 즉 한국철학의 정체성을 드러내는 것이 될 것이다.In view of this, I examined the characteristics of the achievements of prominent Korean scholars and philosophers such as Wonhyo, Jinul, Toegye, Yulgok, Dasan, and Hyegang. Each actively accepted and applied their knowledge in their own contemporary problems to seek alternative solutions. Such accomplishments in the intense process of reflection are considered representative accomplishments in the history of Korean philosophy. The detailed conceptual discussion of the theory of mind and nature or ontology, which has been attracting attention in the field of Korean philosophy, is part of such achievements and is the foundation on which Korean philosophy stands recognized. On the other hand, problems of reality faced by Korean philosophers in the time of Wonhyo to Hyegang on the Korean Peninsula and their perception of these problems gives uniqueness to their achievements, which are therefore mentioned in Korean philosophy. In other words, the history of Korean philosophy consists of discussions in the process of seeking alternatives to the problems that have been faced by the people of the Korean peninsula, of which the level and form merit its recognition as philosophy as a modern academic field. Furthermore, this is the reason why ‘Korean’ philosophy is considered a product of posing problems and searching for alternative solutions within the realities of Korean history. |
